After each of the first five events in the 10-round Summer Shootout Series at Lowe's Motor Speedway (NC), 14-year-old Josh Williams was left at the dinner table at Buffalo Wild Wings at Afton Ridge in Concord, NC with hopes of turning around his tough racing luck. Ill-behaving racecars, poor starting draws and unfortunate incidents, not of his own doing, have frequently kept Williams from being a weekly threat for victory as he planned to be.
Then, on Tuesday July 15th, Wililams' luck turned around. By the time he got to Buffalo Wild Wings for 40-cent wings after that event, his head was held high thanks in large part to a strong fifth-place in the Pro Division event in the Buffalo Wild Wings #40-cents for BDI Racing at LMS.
“We've been coming out here every Monday night for practice and racing every Tuesday night for the last few weeks trying to find that right combination that would bring us to victory lane,” said Williams. “I think now we're a lot closer than we've been all Shootout long. Momentum-wise, this was a big race for us. We started from the pole and stayed up front with some really strong cars and proved that we belong racing with those guys. We've got four weeks left of the Shootout and I think this is just a sign of things to come.” |
