Stroupe and Dillner Keep Title Hopes Alive at Dillon
"Slick Nick"Takes Second to Lead BDI Racing Charge In North Region

The BDI Racing team's Pro Challenge Series drivers Nick Stroupe and Meghan Dillner set out at the beginning of the 2008 season with lofty, yet attainable goals for their years. In his first full-time Pro Challenge season, 12-year-old Nick Stroupe had his sights set on the 2008 Pro Challenge National Championship.

In her first season in the series, 14-year-old Meghan Dillner made her goal the 2008 Rookie of the Year title.

After Stroupe's second-place run and Dillner's sixth on Saturday, June 14th at Dillon Motor Speedway, both drivers' goals are right on track at the halfway point of the Pro Challenge North Region season.

Stroupe scored the pole for the 50-lap event and put on a torrid battle at the start of the event with Clint King up front. "Slick Nick" led the opening laps, but lost the lead to King before eventually getting it back late in the race in a heated battle for the North region win. Paint was swapped, but Stroupe held his composure to score a strong second-place finish at Dillon.

Meghan (#151) takes a spot away en route to her second-place finish at Orange County.

"It was really hot out there and it was a tiring race, but i held on and it was a good points day," said Stroupe. "I was just trying to wait and not use up my stuff, but it got way too tight.  I got into (King) in turn four, I didn't mean to and he got into me twice as hard.  After that he was running me up on the restart so I couldn't get a run on him.  It's not fair, but that's racing.

"It was a great battle. We'll just come back and race twice as hard at Franklin County next week.

Dillner's Rookie of the Year hopes were strengthened with a strong sixth-place run, but that quality result nearly did not have a chance to materialize. Dillner spun her #151 truck in turn four during practice and hit the inside retaining wall hard on the right-side. But, the BDI Racing team and some help from friends of the organization helped get Dillner back on track for her strong finish.

"In practice, I was just going around and I really wasn't used to the track," said Dillner. "I kept thinking that I was used to Orange County where you just drive it in there. You can't do that here I got up in that sand and I just lost it.  That was my first spin in a Pro Challenge ride and I got on the clutch and the brake, but it wasn't soon enough and I slammed into the pit wall.

"I really have to thank my guys Mike, Dustin, Derek, Duke, my Uncle Matt, Bondo and Jeff Fultz who came over from the Late Model pits to come help fix my truck and get me back out there for qualifying.

"The whole race we were running the same corner speeds as the leaders, but they were just killing us on the straightaway.  We just didn't have the motor that we need and they pulled us really bad. Through the day, I wrecked, I came from the back, and it was really hot, we were down on horsepower and it was the longest race I have run in Pro Challenge.  So we leaned a lot today."

Both Stroupe and Dillner hope to continue on their paths to two titles for BDI Racing in the Pro Challenge Series this Saturday, June 21st at Franklin County Speedway in Callaway, Virginia.
