BDI Racing and Zach Stroupe to Remember Virginia Tech Tragedy Victims
With Graduation at VT This Weekend, Stroupe's #51 Chevy to Fly VT Tribute at Motor Mile

In April of 2007, the campus of Virginia Tech University in Blacksburg, Virginia was saddened by an on-campus tragedy that took the lives of 32 students and faculty members, injured many others and put lasting memories in the minds and hearts of an entire campus and country.

As the Virginia Tech's class of 2008 graduates this weekend, BDI Racing and its 15-year-old driver Zach Stroupe will honor the memories of those lost in the tragedy and will pay tribute to the entire Virginia Tech community on May 10 th when the PASS South Super Late Model tour heads to Motor Mile Speedway in Radford, VA, which is located just a few miles from the VT campus.

Stroupe's #51 Chevrolet Impala SS will sport the Virginia Tech memorial ribbon logo on its hood in the “Mom 150” at Motor Mile to symbolize the BDI Racing team's support of the entire university community.

“Even though it's been more than a year since the Virginia Tech tragedy, the memory of what happened that day will go on forever,” said Iron Station, NC native Stroupe. “The students that are graduating this weekend were on campus when the tragedy happened, so they've been really strong and we are proud to show our support of those students and everyone in and around the VT campus.”

With Commencement Ceremonies at Virginia Tech taking place this weekend, Mother's Day weekend, the strength of the VT community is emphasized even more.

“As a parent, you can't help but recognize the strength of the entire VT community in the year since the tragedy on campus,” said BDI Racing Team Owner and SPEED Television Broadcaster Bob Dillner. “A lot of sons, daughters, moms and dads were lost on that day. While the nation will never forget what happened, everyone on campus has been so strong in its aftermath. I admire the entire campus community and we're proud to support them on their graduation weekend for flying the tribute logo on our Chevy.

“I also think it's great for the PASS South Super Late Model series to also support the VT community by offering $5.00 off admission to Saturday's “Mom 150” at Motor Mile to all VT students with a Student ID. While their families are in town for graduation, heading out to the track Saturday night to have some affordable family fun is a great way to celebrate.”

Commencement ceremonies will be held throughout Saturday at Virginia Tech, but the final one should conclude around 4pm.  That would give students and/or family and friends plenty of time to make the short trek to Motor Mile Speedway in Radford, VA to catch all the racing, which begins at approximately 6:30pm.

Motor Mile Speedway is located just 15-minutes from Virginia Tech University in beautiful Radford, VA.
