were both in the Legends Car ranks,” said Dillner. “They are a family-oriented team, and the success they had in 2007 as a rookie team, winning the GAS Rookie of the Year title with one car, one engine and one body all season long, was a feat not many teams could have accomplished. It's a model that we at BDI Racing really admire because we are a family too. That's why while we get Zach ready for our next scheduled race, we wanted to lend our support to Kyle and his family for their first televised race of the season.
“We know that we have a super-talented driver in our BDI Racing stable with Zach Stroupe,” said Dillner. “But while we get our #51 ready for the PASS South event at Cordele, we hope Kyle can bring his #51 Chevrolet success in Cordele.”
Fowler has quickly become one of the bright, up-and-coming stars of the Southeastern Super Late Model ranks, just like BDI Racing house driver Zach Stroupe. Both drivers are graduates of the tough Bandolero and Legends Car ranks and both have seen success early in their teenage years by racing drivers two, three and even four times their age.
But having the support of BDI Racing in the second ASA Southeast Asphalt Tour event of the season offers a new opportunity for Fowler – a chance to shine on television with a different number than his trademark number-4 he has competed with for years.
“It's great because of all that history that that number has, especially with Mr. Dillner and his family. That was the number that his dad ran, and I'm proud to be running it now too. I really want to do well with that number on there for everyone on the BDI Racing team and to hopefully get some good publicity out of it.
“I've never driven anything that hasn't had the number-4 on it. I'm not really a superstitious guy, luckily. Hopefully it brings some good luck, though.”
Fowler has visited Watermelon Capital Speedway numerous times in his Legends Car days, but the tricky surface in Cordele proved to be a handful for Fowler in his Late Model starts there in 2007. Unfazed, Fowler started getting the hang of the track late in the year and has high hopes for the Commercial Disposal / BDI Racing #51 Chevrolet on Saturday night.
“In the past, we've struggled a little bit there, but in the last couple of times we've been there we've gotten a lot better. I think we're going to have something for them.”
The event also allows Fowler to showcase his talents in front of a national television broadcast, as this event is the first of at least ten races that will be seen in a one-hour, tape-delayed format on several cable networks throughout the southeast and the rest of the country.
“I raced on television a little bit in Legends Cars (at the Lowe's Motor Speedway's Summer Shootout), but this will be a pretty neat deal. This will be the first time on TV, so hopefully it'll be a great deal for everybody.”
The green flag for the ASA Southeast Asphalt Tour event at Watermelon Capital Speedway is scheduled to take the green flag at approximately 8:45pm on Saturday, April 5 th . Please check the official website of the RC Cola / Moon Pie ASA Southeast Asphalt Tour ( www.asasoutheast.com ) for more information about when the tape-delayed broadcast of the race can be seen.
Zach Stroupe's next scheduled race will take place when the PASS South Series visits Watermelon Capital Speedway (GA) on April 26 th . Before that, Nick Stroupe will compete in a Pro Challenge North Region event at Franklin County Speedway on Saturday, April 19 th . That event will also be the debut of Meghan Dillner in the Pro Challenge Series.
