the conclusion of the 2008 Summer Shootout Series. Williams concluded this year's Shootout just outside the top-10 in points as the youngest Pro Division competitor. He put together a strong string of finishes in the final weeks of the Shootout, helping the driver's momentum boost.
"It's going to be a lot of fun getting back to Lowe's to race. We had a great Summer Shootout, but we never made it to victory lane. Hopefully we'll be able to do that here on Pole Night, but my goal is to be in the top-five with the car in one piece to have a shot at winning the race. If we can be there, I think we'll be in good shape."
The race will come just about a week after one of the young driver's most impressive nights in his racing career. Aside from dominating the Legends Car feature at CCMP from green-to-checker, Williams hopped into his #6 Fasttruck for the first time this season and put it on the pole. After the entire field was inverted after qualifying, Williams patiently moved his way back up to the front, taking just 11 laps to get from the rear of the field to second.
Williams was going for the top spot when the leader came down on him, sending both drivers to the rear of the field. Again, Williams diligently got back to the front and was once again going for the lead when the brake-checking of the leader kept Williams from achieving his goal of winning the race.
"It was a lot of fun getting back behind the wheel of the truck," added Williams. "We had a really good piece and if we didn't keep getting messed up by the leaders, I think we would've won the race pretty easily. But, that's how it goes sometimes and it only makes me hungrier to get back to the winner's circle."
Williams' next event will come at Lowe's Motor Speedway on October 8th during the pre-even festivities for NASCAR Sprint Cup Pole Night. In advance of the big event at Lowe's Williams will appear on the "Friday Night Full Throttle" radio show live from Charlotte County Motorsports Park on Friday, October 3rd from 7:30pm to 9pm.
