Dillner & Plott Take Top-Fives Out of Orlando
BDI Team, Led by Dustin Archer, Builds Car In Three Days for Dillner

Dubbed “The Happiest Place on Earth,” Orlando, Florida has typically been just that for BDI Racing's house drivers in recent seasons. With Pro Challenge victories and dominant performances at Orlando SpeedWorld, BDI Racing ventured from its Concord, NC shop to Orlando on October 18 th with high hopes for drivers Meghan Dillner and Kyle Plott for more strong runs to add to the team's repertoire.

Fifty laps later, Plott and Dillner were able to consider Orlando happy places for themselves, as both drivers were able to bounce back from bad luck the week before to score top-five runs in the third round of the four-race 2008 Pro Challenge Playoff.

Kyle Plott led the way for the BDI Racing team. Plott, in the FRS Contracting #4 Chevy for BDI Racing, started fifth and instantly worked his way up to the rear bumper of race leader Clint King by halfway. Plott put pressure on King's rear bumper down the stretch, but eventually the young driver settled for second, which improved on his fifth-place finish at Lonesome Pine Raceway (VA) last week.

“I might have had a little bit for King,” said Plott. “I could've saved my stuff a little more, but the crew was cheering me on and I wanted to get the win.

Meghan DIllner took her brand-new Pro Challenge racer, built ground-up by BDI Racing, to a top-five finish at Orlando.

“Dustin had the car hooked up all day long. Meghan and I were running up front all day. I've never been here before, but I like momentum tracks and real fast tracks, so yeah, it's one of my favorites.”

If bonus points or awards were given to the driver that passed the most cars in a 50-lap Pro Challenge race, 15-year-old Meghan Dillner would've easily won the award at Orlando. Dillner started eighth, but was headed towards the top-five early on with the fastest car on the track. Dillner was knocking on the door of fifth-place, when the car in front of her suddenly slowed off the second turn with an ignition box problem. With nowhere to go, Dillner nudged the slowing car and was subsequently penalized to the rear of the field.

Dillner, with a vengeance, flew through the field with her ChevStang. In fact, she used both the inside and the outside grooves to work her way into the top-five late in the race. With a car still faster than the leaders, Dillner ran out of laps before she could climb any higher than fourth, which was still a strong result for the young racer.

“I didn't have a great qualifying run, but I had gotten up there and I was following the #70 down the straightaway and his ignition box went out,” said Dillner. “It was like he just stopped on the straightaway and I ended up getting in the back of him. And they called a black flag on me for turning him, which isn't fair, but it was a track decision and there was nothing I could really do about it. So I went to the back and we had to pass everybody on the outside, but I'm telling you, that was a fun race.”

Dillner's fourth-place finish comes just seven days after her #51 ChevStang was severely damaged in a crash at Lonesome Pine. The BDI Racing team worked throughout the week to prepare a brand-new #51 machine in time to race at Orlando, helping Dillner maintain her strong standing in the Pro Challenge point standings.

“I think I needed the momentum we gained here at Orlando,” added Dillner, who had skull and crossbones on the hood of her Chevy. “After last week, it stunk. We had a wrecked racecar, but there was nothing I could do about that and nothing I could do about the black flag tonight. Finishing fourth was really great for me because it showed me there wasn't anything I could do better.

“I can't thank those guys enough. Dustin (Archer, crew chief), Russell (Hageman) and a lot of other people busted their butts every night at the shop and we put this car together in three days. They're all my family, they're not just friends. I can't thank everyone that come to the track today and everyone that has been at the shop all this week more for what they did.”

Next up for the BDI Racing Pro Challenge drivers will be the final points' event in the 2008 Playoff season. Plott, Dillner and Chad Finchum will hit Peach State Speedway in Jefferson, Georgia on November 9th for the season finale 50-lap event.
